About the Early Bird Track
The IEEE International Conference on Healthcare Informatics 2027 (IEEE ICHI 2027) is a premier forum for innovative research in healthcare informatics, bringing together advances in three tracks: analytics, systems, and human factors. These areas converge to address important challenges in healthcare, medicine, life sciences, public health, and everyday wellness. IEEE ICHI 2027 will be held in Washington, DC.
The Early Bird Submission Track provides authors with an opportunity to submit their work early, receive constructive feedback from experts in the field, and obtain an earlier decision well before the regular submission deadline.
Submission Requirements
- The Early Bird track accepts long papers only.
- Submissions must follow the IEEE Proceedings Format.
- Maximum length: 10 pages for the main paper, plus references.
- Submissions undergo double-blind peer review. Authors must anonymize their manuscripts and blind any references, links, repositories, or other information that could reveal authorship.

IEEE ICHI is dedicated to advancing the foundations, methods, technologies, and applications of computing and information sciences for healthcare and everyday wellness. The conference welcomes work spanning three major areas:
1. Analytics
Advances in AI/ML-based decision support, generative AI, data analytics, knowledge discovery, and predictive modeling for healthcare. Topics include, but are not limited to:
- AI/ML-based clinical and healthcare decision support
- Generative AI for healthcare
- Safe, responsible, and trustworthy AI in healthcare
- Predictive modeling and personalized treatment

Design, development, deployment, and evaluation of novel healthcare informatics systems, architectures, frameworks, and applications. Topics include, but are not limited to:

- Electronic health records

3. Human-Centered Computing
Human-centered technologies and methods that improve communication, interaction, usability, engagement, and health behaviors among patients, clinicians, caregivers, and other healthcare stakeholders. Topics include, but are not limited to:

- Patient engagement and patient experience
- Human-AI interaction in healthcare
- Usability studies in healthcare
- User-interface design for medical devices and healthcare software
- Mixed-reality-based healthcare systems

Publication
Accepted Early Bird papers may be recommended for publication in the Journal of Healthcare Informatics Research (JHIR), pending approval by the conference chairs and the journal's Editor-in-Chief. All accepted papers—whether published in JHIR or in the IEEE ICHI conference proceedings—must be presented at the conference, and at least one author must register at the author registration rate.
Authors whose papers are not accepted during the Early Bird round are welcome to revise their work and resubmit to the regular submission track.
